In the end, it’s all about calories.

It’s Not Just About Dieting

We need to accept the fact that having a calorie deficit is a scientifically proven “secret” to losing body fat (BF). It is not about strict dieting, it is about nutrition manipulation.

Macronutrients like carbohydrates, protein and fats contain calories that provides energy for our bodies.

What Happens When You Have More Calories Than You Need?

If you eat more calories than your body can burn or consume (Calorie surplus), your body stores the extra energy — and you gain weight.

Oops!

If you eat fewer calories than you burn (Calorie deficit), your body is forced to tap into its energy stores for fuel — and you lose weight.

If you eat the same number of calories you burn (Calorie maintain), your weight stays the same.

How Do Fat Loss Diets Work?

People lose fat in many ways.

They lose fat on low carb diets, low fat diets, paleo diets, vegan diets, diets that involve eating “clean” instead of “dirty” or not eating after a certain time at night, and countless other types of diets that involve every gimmick, fad and method you can think of.

They have all caused people to successfully lose fat.

However, that is not the full picture.

All of these diets and methods only temporarily and forcefully create a caloric deficit by:

  1. Making you eat less carbs.
  2. Making you eat less fat.
  3. Making you eat less “dirty” junk food.
  4. Making you eat less processed foods.
  5. Making you not eat after 7pm.

6. Making you go on a raw food diet, vegan diet, paleo diet or any remotely similar diet that eliminates many of the food you regularly eat.

Your Calorie Deficit Needs To Be Sustainable

The key determining factor for a successful fat loss regime is to be able to sustain a calorie deficit for a reasonable period of time. That can be achieved by following the right nutrition plan and training.

That is the only healthy and sustainable way to lose fats, and weight in the process.
