Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy in which hypnosis is used to help people deal with a variety of health issues.  Hypnosis creates a state of focused attention whereby the patient is able to respond better to positive suggestions provided by the therapist.  During hypnosis, the therapists is able to access the subconscious mind that holds many of the automated ‘patterns’ of thoughts, emotions, beliefs and behaviours that can remain deeply hidden from the conscious mind.

With the given consent of the client, the therapist is able explore these bad feelings, painful memories or unhealthy ideas.  During hypnosis, the client will be more receptive to the therapist’s suggestions to reimagine these negative thoughts in alignment with positive therapeutic goals.

Hypnosis can be used in 2 ways to help patients;

  • Analysis during the relaxed state of mind may be able to uncover hidden traumatic past events or psychological root problems which can then be addressed during psychotherapy treatment
  • Suggested therapy during the hypnotic state can help patients change certain behaviours such as fear, anxiety or smoking cessation
